Of all the species on the planet, birds are the most affected by global trends as they travel over their flyways from continent to continent. Habitat destruction is the most significant threat to birds, and there are many critically endangered species around the world, including the wattled crane in Africa and the California Condor and Gnatcatcher in North America.
