| Africa and North
America share similar wildlife and much of our wildlife shares
a similar fate. For example, the big horn sheep and the giant
sable antelope are on the brink of extinction due to poaching
and habitat destruction. In California, big horn sheep numbers
are down 97% today from 1800, and in Angola, the giant sable
antelope numbers have gone down from 3000 in 1970 to less than
25 today. Both species are listed as endangered by the IUCN,
the World Conservation Organization. |
