The clear glass on this figure's medicine pouch allows us to see its contents such as the mother and child figure, shells and rocks. These are all painted with a white pigment (a color associated with water and women spirits). The shell was used often to symbolize "long life." From the contents of the pouch, we can assume that this figure was created to ensure the children of the woman who owned this figure would lead a long and healthy life.
