The child was included in this figure so that it
would be clear that this is a married woman. Women power figures
(minkondi) were often used in relation to fertility and maternity.
For example, the figure may be used to show the woman and her child
the "path" to take in life or to show the woman if her child will
be strong or not. Most commonly power figures are made in the image
of men, but female figures are also of great importance.
