Story:

Biography: Lazarus Takawira is a Shona sculptor from Nyanga, Zimbabwe. He is one of three sculpting brothers, but his work stands alone. His work explores traditional Shona ideals. He has begun to deal more with form than content in his latest works, but the strong spiritual presence remains.

Takawira has received numerous awards for his work, and has participated in group exhibitions worldwide. He has also had a one-man show in Harare, Zimbabwe. His work leads the evolution of sculpture in Zimbabwe.
